]Theresa Keller, 102, Velva, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at St. Gabriel’s Nursing home in Bismarck.
Theresa Lemer was born November 5, 1921, the daughter of George and Katrina (Grad) Lemer on the family farm north of Drake where she grew up and attended a nearby country school.
She married Joseph Keller on November 24, 1943, at Drake, ND. In 1946, the couple moved to a farm southeast of Voltaire, where they lived and farmed. In 1957, they moved to Velva, where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast Hardware Store. She retired from the store in 1977.
Joseph passed away January 24, 2000. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church where she was involved with Christian Mothers and assisted in the cleaning of the church for over 20 years. Theresa was devoted to her family. Her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were the joy of her life. Her family and visitors knew they would never go hungry when they visited.
Her loving family includes: children, Karl (Alesha) Keller, Velva, Geraldine “Gerry” (Donald) Brekke, Mandan/Arizona, Arby (Mac) Makelky, Mandan, Sandra (Gerald) Erck, Garrison, Martina Hall, St. Cloud, MN, Karla (David) Hillerud, Jamestown; grandchildren, Bruce (Debbie) Brekke, Dawn (Robert) Schmitt, Mark (Paula) Bearman, Corey (Sarah) Erck, Monica Rensch, Justin (Megan) Hall, Eric (Jin Hee) Hall, Brady (Brianna) Keller, Olivia (Cody) Steinhaus, Emma (Houston) Lavachek, Alisha (Raul) Torres, Nicole (Steve) Martinez, Ryan Hillerud, and Megan Hillerud; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Frank Lemer, Ludwig Lemer, and Peter Lemer; sisters, Magdalen Volk, Eva Volk, Rose Bruner, and infant sister Josephine; son-in-law, Greg Hall.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva.
Interment: Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva, ND.
Visitation: Thursday from 5-6 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva.
Vigil Prayer Service: Thursday at 6 p.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva.
Memorials: are preferred to Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva
