Jane Horntvedt

Oct. 30, 1933-Nov. 29, 2023

Moorhead, Minn.

Jane was born on October 30, 1933, to Alfred and Olea Koppelsloen and grew up on the family farm in Columbus, ND. She helped with many of the farm chores including the dairy operation run by her parents. She graduated from CHS in 1952 and then ventured away to Minneapolis to attend the College of Medical Technology where she made many good friends and had a great time and graduated in June 1953. Luckily for Maynard, she returned to North Dakota and began working as a lab and x-ray tech in the Crosby Clinic.

Jane left a legacy as the “go to” person for any medical concerns in the Columbus community, the highlight was helping deliver a baby in the back seat of a local family’s car. After that she decided she should go through EMT training so she would be better prepared for the unexpected, and she worked with the local ambulance crew. Jane worked for several years at both the hospital and clinic in Crosby, then ended her medical career working at the Columbus Clinic. Jane was involved in Trinity Lutheran Church Circle and choir, The Northwest Chorus, Ladies’ Aid, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1956. She was also a great help to Maynard with farming from 1976 until their retirement in 1998.

Jane and Maynard were married on June 12, 1955. They raised 3 children and enjoyed summer fishing trips to Canada. Later they purchased a place on Lake Sakakawea where many great family memories were made. They also enjoyed many travels to include Hawaii, Norway, and much of the US.

Jane is survived by her children: Keith (Peggy Marie), Peggy Jo, Angie, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard, and parents Alfred and Olea.
