Jeanne Benson—79, Minot, died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in a Minot nursing home.

Jeanne Usselman was born on February 25, 1944, a daughter of Pius J. and Laurel M. (Sherlock) Usselman in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Balfour, and was graduated in 1961 from Balfour High School. Following graduation, Jeanne worked as a waitress in Velva until 1965.

On December 14, 1965, Jeanne was united in marriage to Gerald “Jerry” Benson in Towner, ND. The family settled in Surrey, ND in 1978, where they raised their family. Jerry passed away on April 25, 2005. Jeanne continued to live in Minot.

Jeanne was a former member of Hope Lutheran Church of Surrey, ND, 515 and 700 Clubs and the Harmony Center. She enjoyed working on puzzles, crossword puzzles, word searches, playing cards, BINGO and going to the zoo. A special highlight in her life was meeting Anne Sward, who played Lyla Montgomery on “As the World Turns” by winning a contest on the local Noon show.

She is survived by:

Daughters: Laurie (Chris Haman) Benson, Tammy (Eric) Frank, and Jeri (Bryce Stoner) Benson; Grandchildren: Andrew Benson, Jenna Frank, Bethany Frank; Kailey Stoner; Siblings: Charles Usselman, Peggy White; Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, an infant brother John Paul and an infant sister Laura May and a sister-in-law Tresa Usselman.

Visitation: Saturday, November 4, 2023, one hour prior to service time at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot
