Jack Kramer

Jan. 2, 1932-Nov. 25, 2023

Minot

John “Jack” Kramer, 89, Minot, formerly of Olympia, WA, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living Facility, Minot.

John “Jack” Henry Karmer was born January 2, 1934, the son of Fred and Cecilia (Kayser) Kramer, in the Kramer home on the family farm near Douglas. He loved to tell people that his birthday was 1-2-3-4. Jack was the oldest of four boys. He was raised on the family’s grain and cattle farm. He graduated from Douglas High School in 1952.

Following graduation, Jack worked at Rensch’s Garage in Makoti for a short while before moving to Minot and worked for Frosaker Chevrolet for several years as an auto mechanic. In the late 1960s, he moved to Olympia, WA and worked for Boeing Corporation installing instrument panels in 747s. Following his years with Boeing, he worked for B&E Auto Clinic until his retirement in 1989.

During his retirement, he was very active in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, as well as the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Olympia. He spent countless hours volunteering in all these venues. Jack’s faith in God was the most important thing in his life and influenced everything he did. He was a born mechanic and had an unbelievable talent for fixing almost anything. His tan El Camino was his prized possession and he had repaired everything there was to repair on it.

Jack was fortunate to have the beautiful friendship of Father Jim, Lou, and Bene while living in Olympia. In 2021, health issues made it necessary to sell his home in Washington and move into assisted living in Minot to be closer to family. He received excellent and loving care from the staff at Edgewood Vista and Caring Edge Hospice, to which his family is forever grateful.

Jack is survived by his brothers, David (Carol) Kramer, Minot; Stephen Kramer, Springfield, OR; 3 nephews, 2 nieces, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father and mother, his brother, Thomas, and his sister-in-law, June.
