Brian “Duncan” Kelly Duncan, 49, Minot, successfully beat esophageal cancer (connected to his military service when deployed in Saudi Arabia during Persian Gulf War) and went to heaven on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
Duncan was born September 17, 1974, in Lincoln, NE, the son of Norman and Rose (Maloy) Duncan.
He was raised in Unadilla, NE. In 1993 he graduated from Syracuse, NE and joined the U.S. Air Force. While stationed at Minot Air Force Base, he met his wife, Cari Hickman. They married on June 15, 1996. They lived in Sawyer before moving to Minot. They have 3 boys.
Throughout the years, Duncan was employed with USAF, ING, Cognizant, 10 North Main and most recently with the Ward County States Attorney’s office. He also owned a business called Doozy’s Delectables.
Duncan is remembered for his smile, charm, quick wit, and humor. He loved to sing, golf, camp, and walk, especially at the YMCA. The family extends a special thank you for the loving care provided by the many medical professionals, friends, and family these past months. He loved you all!
Duncan is survived by his wife Cari, sons, Jayden, Sam, and Charlie; his mother, Rose; mother-in-law, Leona (Richard) Lochthowe, brother-in-law, Kris (Donna) Hickman; sister-in-law, Leslie “Lillian” (Jr.) Velazquez; stepsister in law, Maria (Kevin) Landrum; stepbrother in law, Terrance (Jessica) Lochthowe; half-brothers, Mike (Gina) Duncan; Larry (Kim) Duncan, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Duncan was preceded in death by his father, Norman, and sister Connie. He and his wife also suffered the loss of an unborn child.
Funeral: Monday, Nov. 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. in Our Redeemer’s Church, Minot.
Interment: North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan on Monday at 3 p.m.
Visitation: Sunday, Nov. 12 from 3-5p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral home, Minot.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers or plants, the family prefers that funds be given to establish an account to benefit their children’s future needs.
