Betty Bruner, 96, of Drake, passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, at Pro Health Assisted Living in Minot. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 17, 2023, with Rosary beginning at 9:45 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake with Fr. Thomas Graner celebrating. Burial will take place at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on the Prairie Pothole Parish Facebook Page on Friday. Memorials can sent to the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Cemetery: 1163 35th St. NE Drake, ND 58736. Arrangements are with the Nelson Funeral Home of Drake. Betty was born July 4, 1927, to Paul and Katherine (Heilman) Feller in Karlsruhe. She attended country school one mile from their farm until the eighth grade and graduated from Karlsruhe High School in 1945. She earned a standard teaching degree at Minot State Teachers College. Betty taught in Tolley, and then in Bismarck for four years.

Betty was united in marriage to George Bruner on October 1, 1952, in Karlsruhe, ND and together the couple raised two daughters, Valerie and Kathy. Betty began teaching in the early 1960’s in Drake until her retirement in 1972. She was also Drake City Auditor from 1985 to 1995. When George suffered a stroke, she dedicated her life to his care.

Betty was an accomplished seamstress and tailored most of her daughters’ clothing during their school years. Later, when the grandchildren arrived, she babysat often for them, spoiling them with homemade cookies and bars. In 2014, Betty moved to Dakota Terrace in Minot where she enjoyed participating in activities, driving independently to exercise at the YMCA, or to play Bridge.

Betty was recently a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot and member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake. She was also a member of the David D. Nehrenberg American Legion Auxiliary Post #32 in Drake, and Oswald-Wohl V.F.W. Auxiliary Post #6831 in Anamoose.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Valerie (John) Holler of Drake, and family: Rebecca (Ian) Young and David Holler; Kathleen “Kathy” (Dave) Duchsherer of Bismarck, and family: Troy (Michelle) Schilling and children, Michael (Sarah) and Matthew, Trent Schilling and children, Liam and Collin; brother, Albert ‘Bert’ (Janice) Feller of Whitewright, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George; parents, Paul and Katherine Feller; siblings, Marie (Palmer) Olson, Mag (Lowell) Redding, Leo (Mary) Feller, Joe (Eva) Feller, George (Evelyn) Feller, and two infant sisters, Regina and Katherina; nieces, Renae (Feller) Telford, Sheila (Redding) Mattern, Cathy (Feller) Houghtaling; nephew, Dale Redding; aunt, Frances (Frank) Tuchsherer.
