Marilyn Jeanette Deaver, 88, Berthold, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2023, at Trinity Health Center, Minot.

Marilyn was born July 4, 1935 in Bottineau, the daughter of Hilman “Pat” and Ruth (Olson) Johnson. Marilyn was raised in Souris until she was 9 years old when her family moved to Berthold.. Marilyn attended a one room schoolhouse and graduated from Berthold High School in 1953.

On June 23, 1953, Marilyn was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Lee Deaver. They established a small dairy farm near Berthold until Lee was drafted in the Army in December of 1956. Following his discharge from the Army, the couple purchased Fisher Oil Company in 1959, which became Deaver Oil Company.

Marilyn enjoyed bowling, playing cards, picture puzzles, word finds, sewing, being a homemaker, taking care of her four children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home became the center for all family gatherings, which were full of laughter, a little bit of chaos and lots of love.

Marilyn’s faith was very important to her. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold, where she was confirmed, married, a former Sunday School teacher, and an active member of the women’s ZLCW.

Her children: Rod (Julie) Deaver, Sandy (Jonny) Johnson, Mark (Sheila) Deaver, grandchildren, Bonnie (Kyle)Schepp, Cheri (Ethan) Seifert, Ross (Jenna) Deaver, Ashley Deaver, Heidi (Joe) Terfehr, Hayley (Jordan) Timm, Hannah (Alec) Burchett; great-grandchildren: Aubree, Lily, Tucker Schepp, Eleanor & Amelia Seifert, Will & Quinn Deaver, Dax & Bode Terfehr, and Harper Timm; sisters-in-law, Mille Haugen and Judy Deaver; brother-in-law, Allie Deaver; and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Marliyn was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; son, Laine, great-granddaughter Carter Timm, her parents, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Visitation: Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023 from 3 until 5 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Family Prayer Service: Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023 at 5 pm in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot

Burial: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold, ND.
