Lucille Yvonne Schiele, 88, Velva, ND, passed peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, with her family by her side.

Lucille Yvonne Bendickson was born to Martin and Olga (Lund) Bendickson on July 19, 1935, in Manfred, ND. She graduated from Harvey High School in 1953. After graduation she moved to Bismarck, ND, where she met Willard “Bill” Schuler. They were married on May 3, 1957, in the Evangelical United Church in Tuttle, ND. To this union 6 children were born.

She taught all of them the importance of family, love, and sacrificed many things to make sure they were always cared for. Their needs were always met before her own. She will be remembered as one of the strongest women ever known to her children. During this union, they resided in the states of North Dakota and Washington, returning to North Dakota in 1962. They settled in Velva in later years to raise their family. This marriage ended in divorce in 1981.

She met Henry Schiele in 1983 and they were united in marriage in 1985. Her family grew in this union with the addition of his children and grandchildren. They resided in Velva and Minot. In 2018 they became residents of the Souris Valley Care Center, Velva.

In the earlier years of their marriage, they enjoyed traveling to all the different activities of their grandchildren, taking them on many adventures of the road. Whether it was to Wisconsin, Iowa, or just within North Dakota, they would be there if possible. She shared great joy with Henry and he with her. Henry passed in October of 2019.

She will be remembered as a caregiver to many throughout her life. Whether it was her own family or extended family, she was always there to lend a hand. While residing at Souris Valley Care Center, she took it upon herself to watch over her fellow residents, and if their needs were not being attended to, she would definitely let it be known. You could find her most days in the activity room putting together her puzzles and visiting with other residents.

She was a member of Saint Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva.

She is survived by:

Children, Mike (Tanya) Schuler, Debbie (Bryan) Feller, Shelly Schuler, Kathy (Chad) Kastner, Danny (Denise) Schuler, and son-in-law Brandt Bensema; Grandchildren, Amy Bensema, Sara Kindrick, Grace Tittle, Billie Schuler, Joshua Feller, Jeremy Feller, Samantha Feller, Dylan Walz, Terri Walz, Taylor Martinovich, Chelsea Campeau, Carter Roder, Brianna Schuler, Adam Schuler and 18 great-grandchildren; Step-children, Donna (Patrick) Schwan, LaVern (Mary) Schiele, Kenneth (Kristi) Schiele, Kathy Schiele and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Sister, Donna Riba; And many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Schiele; daughter, Sheryl Bensema; daughter-in-law, Janet Schuler; sisters, Adeline, Helen, Florence, Fern, Joann; brothers, Marvin and Glen; father to her children, Willard Schuler.

Visitation: There will be no reviewal; however, friends may sign a guest register one hour prior to service.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 1 pm at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva.

Burial: Velva Community Cemetery, Velva, ND.
