Geraldine Joy, daughter of Paul and Mary (Demchuk) Plesuk was born September 25, 1934. She was raised and educated in Kief and Butte, graduating from Butte High School in 1954. On July 17, 1955 Geraldine was united in marriage to Vernon Kolschefski at Rosenfeld Baptist Church of rural Drake. They lived on the family farm of rural Butte. Geraldine spent her life working hard on the farm. She took pride in her home (decorated with light green and sunflowers), the farmyard, and most importantly her family. She was involved with Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and the White Cross ladies group at church. Geraldine received recognition for serving 15 years from the National Weather Service as volunteer weather observer for the Butte area. She enjoyed embroidery and playing games such as Dominoes and Skip-bo late at night. She loved and looked forward to visiting on the phone with everyone. Family gatherings were a grand feast, always canned pickles, cheese buttons, pierogies, juneberry pockets, pineapple upside-down cake, the birthday person’s favorite dessert…and always one dish discovered in the microwave later in the evening! She loved being Grandma/Great-Grandma! Anyone who met Geraldine would express, “She is such a sweet lady!” Jesus welcomed her and she reunited with Vernon in Heaven.
Geraldine is survived by her sons Alvern (Pam), Minot; Dean (Julie), Drake; and Leon (Sheila), Butte; grandchildren Kayda (Trent), rural Garrison; Megan, Apex, NC; David, Beulah; Linnea, James, Luke, and Daniel, all Drake; Bethany, Minot; Emily, Dickinson; and Matthew, Butte; great-grandchildren, Raegan, Taryn, and Ruben, Israella, Cooper, Louis, Julia, and Ryvr; siblings Lorraine Volochenko, Butte; Judy (Jerry) Heil, Mandan; and Rosella (Loren) Lemer, Mulvane, KS; sister-in-law Edith Plesuk, Bismarck; and extended family.
