Dr. Donald Kilene

Doctor Donald Kilene passed peacefully in his sleep on October 20, 2023. Donald was born to Bernt and Magdaline Kilene in 1942 in Minot and lived on the family farm. His family moved to Berthold, ND, where he attended school. He attended Minot State University, University of North Dakota, and graduated with high honors from University of Houston Optometry School.

In 1965, he married Connie McAllister in Langdon, ND. In 1967, he opened a practice in Kalispell, MT. In March of 1970, the family moved to Minot, ND, where Don opened a practice with offices in Stanley and Kenmare.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He also enjoyed traveling with Connie. His major passion involved History and Geography. In 2002, Don sold his practice to Doctor Jamie Holland and retired. Don and Connie moved to Fargo, ND, in 2011 to be closer to family.

He is survived by his wife Connie of 58 years, loving pet Annie, sons John (Sue Horan) Kilene, Jason Kilene, and Gene (Yamila) Kilene, his sisters Gladys Busterud and Dorothy (Dr. Clifford) Spieker, sister-in-law Carol (Martin) Ness and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
