Donald Michael Goetz, the son of Donald Edward and Ellen (Haines) Goetz was born on November 8, 1949, in Staten Island, New York. He died at the age of 73 years on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, under the care of Sanford Hospice in Fargo, North Dakota.

Don was born and raised in Staten Island. After graduating from high school, he attended Wagner College, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for two years, was stationed in Guam, then he went to work for Ford Motor. Don again enlisted in the United States Air Force on January 5, 1974, in Lompoc, California. His career in the Air Force brought him to the Minot Air Force Base and while stationed there, he met the love of his life and best friend, Sharon. On May 26, 1983, Don was united in marriage to Sharon (D’Heilly) in Minot, North Dakota. They made their home in Minot. Don continued his career in the Air Force, which included Fabrication of B52 parts, welding, supervision and heading up the Hazardous Waste department until his retirement in 1995. After retiring from the military, Don started his repair business, Don’s Mobile Home Repair & Remodeling, which kept him busy. He retired at the age of 62 in 2010.

Don and Sharon resided in Minot from the time of their marriage until 2012, when they moved to Towner to care for Sharon’s mother, Esther D’Heilly. In 2022, they moved back to Minot due to Don’s health. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and anything with his family. Don was headstrong, knew what he wanted and would usually get what that was. He had a great love for his family, who meant the world to him and they will miss him dearly.

Don is survived by his wife and best friend, Sharon of Minot; sons, David Goetz of Arizona and Scott Hell of Minot; daughters, Stacy (Shane) Berg of Gillette, Wyoming and Susie (Todd) Hebert of Minot; an honorary daughter, Lisa Bell of South Carolina; grandchildren, Crystal (Travis) Payne of Pinedale, Wyoming; Logan Dodgen of Minot, Dalton Hebert of Minot, Colman Berg of Aragaurd, Annika Berg of Gillette, Wyoming and Joshua Hell of Fargo; great grandson, TJ Payne; brother-in-law, Gary D’Heilly of Annandale, Minnesota; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and Sharon’s parents, Norbert and Esther D’Heilly.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at Thomas Family Funeral Home in Minot, burial with full military honors will be in Rosehill Cemetery, Minot. Rev. Michael Parker, officiating.

Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services on Friday.
