Charles Joseph “Chuck” Schreiber was born on February 1, 1966, in Marysville, California to Clayton and Carol (Wentz) Schreiber. He was raised in Minot, attending Longfellow Elementary School, Bishop Ryan High School (Class of ’84) and Minot State University (Business Administration).
Throughout his early life, Chuck worked as a cook at Homesteaders Restaurant, at Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store as a Produce Clerk and driving the bakery van, and as a Youth Care Supervisor at the Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. Later, he worked for many years as a Landman for Diamond Resources in the oil and gas industry.
Most of all, Chuck was a caregiver. Chuck worked at the Somerset Court Assisted Living Facility where he could be found with his puppy, Astro, connecting with the residents and caring for his parents. Chuck married La Donna Rosenau on September 9, 2002 in Minot, ND. Chuck and La Donna fostered many children over the years with unwavering love and dedication.
In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed listening to Prairie Public Radio and watching the Big Bang Theory t.v. show. He was a gifted woodworker, wire sculptor and handyman. He had a passion for hunting and was especially known for his culinary skills. He loved to use bacon fat in his cooking and was famous for his signature dish, “pork squealers,” which were enjoyed by many. Chuck Schreiber leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and community service. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, La Donna; foster child, Alden Allery of Minot; sisters, Colette (Arno) Rudolph of Bismarck, Cheryl (Daniel) Haugen of Cornelius OR, and Charlotte (Vint) Whitman of Eugene OR; brother Curtis (Michelle) Schreiber of Fargo; and their beloved dog Astro.
