Verna Mobley

June 30, 1937-Sept. 10, 2023

Minot

Verna Mobley, 86, Minot, died Sunday, September 10, 2023, in her home.

Verna Mae Jungberg was born June 30, 1937, in Cashmere, Washington to Albert Edward Jungberg and Lois Beryl Jungberg (Mace). The family moved back to ND where Albert, Beryl, Verna and her brother Carlen grew up on a farm near Coteau, ND. They moved to Kenmare in 1953, and Verna was active in cheerleading for 2 years. She completed her junior and senior year at Kenmare High School, graduating in 1955.

Verna married Marvin Godejohn shortly after graduation. They had their first two children, Shelly and Kirk. In 1964, they moved to Seattle, where their youngest, Rodney, was born. Marvin and Verna both worked for Boeing until moving back to ND in 1971. They later divorced but remained friends throughout their lives.

Verna married William Lee Mobley on November 5, 1976. In this union, she gained three stepchildren, Tammy, Terry, and Dawn. They resided and raised exotic animals on a beautiful farm in Burlington, ND until his passing in 2006. Even though it was hard to leave her farm, Verna decided to move to Minot to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Throughout Verna’s life she worked for many organizations as a bookkeeper/office manager. They include Westlie Motor Company, Signal Realty, Pepsi Bottling and working alongside her husband, Bill, at Mobley Carpet Service.

Verna was a beautiful, intelligent and a wholehearted woman with a laugh that you would never forget! She loved to play practical jokes on her family and friends. She loved technology and couldn’t wait for the next gadget to be released. She enjoyed her home and always took time to make it her favorite place. Shortly after moving to Minot, she welcomed a fluffy 4-legged little lady, Gedgit, who never left her side. They were inseparable. Verna’s family and her faith were everything to her. Her brothers and sisters at the Kingdom Hall were her second family. Verna loved adventure. Later in life she was fortunate to travel. Her journey included three cruises where she enjoyed parasailing at 70 years old and kept exploring the world. Quilting was one of her many talents; she made and gifted her quilts with passion and great joy! She will be greatly missed, and her smile and laugh will always be a shining memory.

Verna’s surviving family includes her children Shelly (Kevin) Adams (Minot), Kirk Godejohn (Minot), Tammy Hess (Grand Forks), Dawn (Mark) Nelson (Grand Forks), Terry (Becky) Mobley (East Grand Forks), Rodney (Melissa) Godejohn (Minot). Her grandchildren Jessica Evanoff, Dustin (Trevor) Forrest, Jennifer (Travis) Streich, Nathan Godejohn, Brock Rice, Chelsy Rice, Derek (Rachel) Nelson, Casey Nelson, Hunter (Jessica) Nelson, Nicholas Nelson, Laura Earsley-Guerra, Brandon Mobley, Landon Lockyer, Kendra (Donavan) Mobley-Haag, Ryley (Brooke) Godejohn, Taylor (Brittany) Godejohn, Bailey Godejohn (Kiana Keller). 21 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, and her loving husband, Bill Mobley, infant brother Carl Jungberg, brother and sister-in-law, Carlen and Connie Jungberg, granddaughter Lindsay Rice, and her first husband, Marvin Godejohn.
