Thomas “Tom” Schmidtgal, 73, Minot, ND passed away on July 30, 2023, at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

Tom was born on March 26, 1950, at Harvey, ND to W.C. (Teddy) and Darlene (Heer) Schmidtgal. He graduated from Drake High School. After high school, he joined the Army and was in active duty in Vietnam. After returning home, he enrolled in an electronics school.

He loved traveling around the USA and in his adult earlier years in various places around the world. He enjoyed chit-chat with anyone. Earlier good memories held much laughing and teasing with family.

He worked many kinds of jobs, but trucking and heavy equipment were his two most steady jobs that he enjoyed. Tom enjoyed fishing and guns as hobbies.

His mother, Darlene, preceded him in death March 1964; his father, “Teddy” Schmidtgal November 2023; and grandparents Adolph and Pauline Schmidtgal, Julius Heer, and Christine Heer Lommen.

Tom’s surviving family: sister, Jean Yvonne (Jay) Hochstetler, Newburgh, IN; two nephews, Jason (Jackie) Hochstetler, Washington, IN; Spencer (Keri) Hochstetler, Kingsport, TN; nephews and nieces: Darian, Evan, Levi, and Ava Hochstetler; cousins from ND, MN, CA, IL, and NE areas.

Arrangements by Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial took place Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Drake Cemetery, Drake, ND.
