Linda McEown, 79, Minot, ND, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Trinity Hospital surrounded by her family and friends.

Ely Linda Olson was born July 16, 1944, the daughter of Leonard and Eugenie (Ness) Olson, in Minot. She was raised and educated in graduating from Minot High School in 1962.

Linda married Michael McEown in Minot, ND on August 19, 1967. They made their home in Minot where they raised their two children. For 19 years Linda worked for the First District Health Unit and the North Dakota State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. She also was a licensed notary public and Guardian Ad Litem. She then went on to working as a Ward County Juvenile Court Recorder from which she retired in 2008 after 22 years.

Michael passed away March 24, 2022. Linda continued to reside in Minot.

She enjoyed many traveling opportunities with all of Mike’s conferences and conventions in the US and Canada. She enjoyed many weekends camping in the summer months. She was an avid doll collector and enjoyed spending many summer months working in her garden. Although Linda had many hobbies and interests her grandchildren were always most important to her.

She was a member of the Sons of Norway and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.

Her loving family includes:

children, Michael (Kelly) McEown and Lisa (Nathan) Burke; grandchildren, Casey Jean McEown, Kaitlyn Brielle McEown, Cody Dylan Burke, Chase Ian Burke, Kellan Nathan Burke; brother, Clarence (Carolyn) Olson; sister, Bonnie (Kevan) Moore and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Michael, and brother Roy Olson, sister, Genevieve Stewart.

Memorial Gathering at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church Tuesday, September 26 from 12-2 p.m.

Graveside service at Rosehill Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m.
