Cecilia Hoard

Riverside, Calif.

It is with a heavy heart I share the news of my mother, Cecilia, passing August 2, 2023, at the age of 95. Cecilia Canasia Lenertz Hoard was born July 16th, 1928, in Karlsruhe, North Dakota as the youngest of 14 children born to Peter Lenertz and Christine Kraft Lenertz. She moved to California in 1962 and remained a resident until 1992, returning to beloved North Dakota and going back and forth to California.

Cecilia was very much the career nurse, caring and spicy. Leaving a legacy everywhere she worked. Cecilia graduated with a degree in nursing from St. Michaels in Minot, North Dakota in 1950. She specialized in many areas of nursing until her retirement in 1992. She was a dedicated, faithful, loyal, a hard-working nurse, wife and mother. Her biggest joy was sharing time with family and friends.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Hoard; her son, Kevin Franklin; her daughter, Karen Angell; and stepsons, M. Wayne and Stefen Hoard. She is survived by her daughter, Karol, and son in-law, Tom Vladovich; son, Michael Olsen; stepson, David Hoard; son-in law, John Angell; grandchildren: Melissa Brower, Tefan Hoard, Kelsey Angell and Ericka Vladovich; great-grandchildren: Dylan Orndoff, Christina Donovan and Jacob Franklin; and great-great-grandchildren: Lucas Orndoff, Mason Orndorff, Maddie Orndorff and Valerie Franklin.

Please join us to celebrate her life, September 29th at 10:15 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside California. A service will be held in North Dakota, a notice will follow as date and time are confirmed.
