Turtle Lake

Carol Ravnaas, 84, Turtle Lake, ND died September 5, 2023, in the Community Memorial Hospital, Turtle Lake. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Turtle Lake with Pastor Russell Lambert officiating. Interment will be held in the Turtle Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.

Carol was born to Carl and Myrtle (Lynse) Solheim on April 11, 1939. She was raised and educated in Maddock, ND. She graduated from Maddock High School in 1957. After high school she attended Concordia University for one year. She then transferred to Minot Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. Carol met the love of her life Lui Ravnaas as they were members of the Lutheran Student Association.

She taught in Great Falls, MT for a year and Minot, ND for a year. Carol married Lui on June 11, 1961, in Maddock, ND. The couple moved to Westhope, ND where Carol taught for three years. To this union the couple had two Children; Debra (1964) and Jon (1965). They moved to Turtle Lake, ND where she taught for 36 years. Carol was a beloved teacher who touched the lives of countless students. Her warmth, sincerity and dedication to the students will live on.

Carol was active in the Turtle Lake Community being a part of Circle, study club, welcome club, and bowling league, she taught Sunday school and Adult Bible Study.

She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, cooking, baking, socializing with friends over a cup of coffee, and going out for lunch with friends. Carol Was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother.

Carol is survived by: her husband of 62 years; children, Debra (Rob) Forward, Bismarck, ND and Jon (Rachel) Ravnass, Ruso, ND; one grandson, Jack Forward, Bismarck; cousins: Deanne Beard, Grand Forks and Daryl Dullum, Kalispell, MT.
