Wayne Lee, 98, formerly of Velva, passed away July 17, 2023, while residing at Goldpine Retirement Home in Bemidji, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Trinity Cemetary, rural Verendrye.

Wayne graduated from Velva High School. He married Genevieve Reed in 1944 while on active duty in the U.S Navy. Wayne made a career in the Navy, serving 21 ½ years and reaching the rank of E-9, Master Chief. From 1961-1966 he wrote the dental exam for all dental technicians seeking advancement. After retiring from the Navy, Wayne served seven years as a parole officer for the state of Idaho.

Wayne and Gen had two children; Timothy (1948) and Nancy (1952). Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Gen, parents Albert and Susie Lee, sisters Stella Ashley, Ellen Smaagaard Litman, Norma Trentzcsh, daughter Nancy and grand-daughter Katy Alford.

A caravan will form at the Velva Methodist Church at 10:15 a.m. to proceed to Trinity Cemetary. Lunch will follow at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.
