Paul Lautenschlager
May 11, 1937-Aug. 9, 2023
Stanley
Paul “Jerome” Lautenschlager, 86, of Stanley went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
Jerome was born on May 11th, 1937, in Minot, to Paul and Dora (DeBilt) Lautenschlager. He was the youngest of four boys following his older brothers Dean, Roger, and Hank. Jerome and his brothers grew up in Larson and attended school in Columbus.
In 1958, Jerome crossed paths with the love of his life, Patricia (Frederick), at the County Fair in Flaxton. On July 12, 1959, in Kenmare, Pat and Jerome exchanged vows, embarking on a remarkable 64-year marriage. Their union welcomed the birth of three children, Steve, Scott, and Renae. Simply spending time with his wife and children brought him great joy. He instilled enduring values in them – humility, kindness, and a strong work ethic – traits that will forever define his life. Jerome dedicated 16 years of his life as a lineman, ten years as a line superintendent, and another ten years as a safety instructor, providing service to his community and building many memorable relationships.
The joy of Jerome’s life multiplied with the arrival of 14 grandchildren, followed by 29 great-grandchildren. His love for them was unmistakable through his countless acts of selflessness. A man of few words but abundant deeds, he readily repaired bike chains, helped with car troubles, helped with school projects, and attended countless sporting events. His selflessness was unmatched. Jerome was unassuming, never seeking recognition, yet his heart was evident in his actions toward others.
Survived by: His loving wife of 64 years Pat; children, Steve (Brenda) Lautenschlager, Scott (Chelly) Lautenschlager, Renae (Duc) Thiel; brother; Hank (Arene Grubb) Lautenschlager; 13 grandchildren; and many well-loved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
