Lois Tandberg
Dec. 23, 1925-Aug. 14, 2023
Minot
Lois Tandberg, 97, Minot, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, at Trinity Homes, Minot.
Lois was born December 23, 1925, the only child of Edward and Alma (Nelson) Brandt, in rural Deering. She was raised on the family farm, graduating from Deering High School in 1945.
She married Lester Tandberg on November 10, 1947. They started this new adventure on the family farm. Later, they moved into Deering, continuing to farm until 1956 when they moved to Minot.
Together they would have five children, Lauren, Lamont, Lenae, Lannette, and Leanne. Family camping trips and road trips were great times and great memories. Birthdays and Holidays were always celebrated with a big family gathering at Grandpa and Grandma’s house where Grandma would bake angel food cake and several other treats for family to enjoy.
Lester passed away February 22, 2013, after 67 years of marriage.
In addition to raising her children and babysitting several of her grandkids, Lois would work at various places throughout the years including Victory Café (now Charlie’s Café), Minot Drug, Riverside Motel, Lincoln School Cafeteria, and cleaning various office buildings and homes.
Lois was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was confirmed in 1967. She volunteered at the church in various ways including helping in the church library.
If you were to ask the people that she knew what words describe Lois I think most would agree on a few: sweet, selfless, giving, smart, patient and kind. She made sure she always had freshly baked goods and a pot of coffee ready to go and everyone’s favorite soda chilled in the fridge in case company were to drop in, maybe for a game of cards, which she loved. She had a sweet tooth and would pass up steak and lobster for a good piece of cream pie. She loved to read and keep busy with crossword puzzles, crocheting, and thumbing through the National Enquirer while watching the Young and the Restless. She had a love for animals and always had a pet by her side throughout the years and what she loved the most were her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Her loving family includes: Lois is survived by one son, Lauren (Kathy), Bismarck; and two daughters, Lannette (Jim) Neshem, Des Lacs; and Leanne (Brian) Steenerson, Minot. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Alysia (Aaron) Huck, Bismarck; Elsie (Keith) Hapip, Bismarck; Robyn Huber, Missouri; Brenda (Troy) Mohl, Bismarck; Randy Haugen, Minot; Rick (Denver) Haugen, Burlington; Sheila Haugen, Minot; Shawna (Darrell) Parsons, Mandan; Clint (Sara) Neshem, Burlington; Tyler Steenerson and Shane Steenerson, Minot; 21 great-grandchildren: 13 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
