Dorothy Haberlock

Dorothy Mae Haberlock, 96, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, in Surprise, AZ. Dorothy was born in Fargo, ND, the daughter of William and Hazel Hartman. She spent her early years in Fingal before moving to Minot. She graduated from Minot High School in 1945.

In 1947 she married Marine veteran Duane Nordstrom in Plentywood, MT. Making their home in Minot, they brought three children into the world, Coni Jo, Kim, and Patricia. Duane died in 1966 at the age of 41.

On December 3, 1971, she married Korean War veteran Frank Haberlock. They lived in Minot until Frank’s death in 2014. For 11 years during that time they managed Henry Towers. After Frank’s death, Dorothy moved to Mandan to be near her daughter Patty.

Dorothy had a great sense of humor that she brought into all of her activities. She was a sales clerk for 25 years (most remembered from Buttreys) and volunteered at the Trinity Homes gift shop for 25 years. Dorothy also loved volunteering through her church, Zion Lutheran, at the Norsk Hostfest for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of Norway, the Elkettes, Dorcas Faith Circle/Bible study and attended First Lutheran Church in Mandan.

Survivors include her daughter Coni Sissel; son Kim Nordstrom (Sandra); grandchildren Melanie (Michael) Trainor; Tara (Jamie) Steinseifer; Tyler (Annie) Bennett; Clint Nordstrom; Brooks Bennett; Tenley Nordstrom; Garrett (Danielle) Bennett; great grandchildren Turi, Collins, and Hadley Trainor; Piper and Gemma Bennett; Zia Nordstrom; Hayes and Gatlin Steinseifer. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Duane and Frank; sister Connie McGarry; daughter Patricia Bennett; and son-in-law Clyde Sissel.

A family memorial service will be held and Dorothy will be buried with her husband, Frank Haberlock, at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery in Mandan, ND.
