Joanne Farden,94, passed away July 4, 2023, at her home at Elison Assisted Living, Minot.
Joanne Claire Bergeth was born on September 26, 1928, at Devils Lake, ND to Arthur J. and Blanche (Allen) Bergeth. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Devils Lake. She was educated in the Fillmore School for eleven years. She moved with her family to Eckman, ND due to her father’s transfer with the Soo Line Railroad. She spent her senior year at Maxbass High School, graduating in 1946.
On September 26th, 1947, Joanne married Ardell Duane Farden at the English Lutheran Church, Maxbass. They were blessed with five children, Jerry, Sandra, Suzanne, Sally, and Jayne. The family moved to Minot in 1968. They joined Zion Lutheran Church in May 1970. Joanne loved spending time with her children and grandchildren as well as many dear friends some of whom she had served with on the Martha Circle at Zion. Her sister Ardeth held a special place in her heart. Joanne enjoyed musical concerts of any kind and especially looked forward to band concerts in the summer at Oak Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ardell, son Jerry, grandson Patrick Fundingsland, her brother Arthur A. Bergeth, mother and father-in-law Ole and Helen Farden, sisters-in-law Norma Anderson and Bernice Farden, brothers-in-law Russell, Kenny and Donnie Farden, Emil Anderson and Ross Watson.
Her loving family includes her daughters Sandra Farden (Minot), Suzanne Fundingsland (Naples, FL), Sally Brachfeld (Naples, FL), Jayne Goldade (Minot); four grandchildren, Tahirih (Mike) Bolton (Bussey, IA) Hilary Brachfeld (Loveland, CO), Cody Goldade (Minot) and Callie Goldade (Fargo); two great grandchildren Connor Bolton and Amelia Bolton (Bussey, IA); her sister Ardeth (Ross) Watson (Fargo), sisters-in-law Carol (Farden) Boger, Marie Farden, LaVonne Bergeth and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on July 21 at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot with visitation at 1 p.m. A private burial will take place at Graceland Cemetary, Maxbass. Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church, Minot or Graceland Cemetary, Maxbass.
