Colleen Rochelle Johnson, 89, Minot, formerly of Harvey and Devils Lake, ND died Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in a Minot hospital.

Colleen was born March 3, 1934, at Devils Lake, ND the daughter of Llewellyn and Lola (Smith) Row of Cando. She graduated from Devils Lake High School in 1952 and attended Macalester College in St. Paul.

Colleen was married to Curtis A. Johnson on October 23, 1953, in Devils Lake. They made their home in Bremerton, WA and Guam where Curtis was stationed in the Navy. They returned to North Dakota and Curtis attended UND in Grand Forks. While there, Colleen was employed at the Grand Forks Air Force Base for six years as a real estate specialist.

She and Curtis lived and raised their family of seven children at various places returning to North Dakota in 1977. After her husband, Dr. Curtis died on November 8, 1979, she moved to Minot and was employed with the Minot Air Force Base. Always improving, she graduated from Minot State University at the age of 78. Colleen had a broker’s license and was a realtor for Watne Realtors of Minot, deciding not to renew her license only one year ago.

She was a disciple of Jesus Christ and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a part of Toastmasters and the Minot Board of Realtors. She was also a poet and author and antique collector.

Her family includes, children, Dawn Freemont, Burlington, ND, Scott B. (Brenda) Johnson, Troy, MT, Tracy (Jeff) Garland, Ponchatoula, LA, Kirk (Dalynn) Johnson, Gilbert, AZ, Dr. Derek (Magda) Johnson, Santa Fe, NM, Jared Johnson, Goodlettsville, TN; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Anita) Row, Detroit Lakes, MN and Bonnie (Robert) Poissant, Manning, SC; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Curtis and son, Todd.

Viewing: Saturday, July 22nd, 9 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2025 9th St NW, Minot.

Funeral service: Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11 a.m. same location.

Interment: Devils Lake Cemetery, Devils Lake, ND July 24. For family.
