Yvonne Welstad

Stayton, Ore.

Alice “Yvonne” Welstad, age 89, of Stayton, Oregon passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

She was born in Minot on July 23, 1933, and was raised in that area. The family moved to Oregon in 1967. Yvonne graduated from Santiam High School with a GED the same year her eldest daughter graduated.

She was married to Roy V. Welstad on June 18th, 1950.

Yvonne was a homemaker and caregiver to her handicapped son Jeff for many years. She also had a stint as a government employee when they lived in Snettisham, Alaska.

Yvonne was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, was a runner up for Mrs. USA in 1961. She had a passion for painting, sewing, Alaskan basket weaving, traveling, especially snow birding as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Roy of 73 years, her children, Dianne Klecker (Jeffrey), Michael Welstad, Pam Welstad, Peggy Macauley (Mark); her grandchildren, Benjamin, Kyle, Sarah, Troy, Lesley, Erin, Ryan, Erik and 16 great grandchildren, as well as her siblings, Lola Gay Hetland, Clairice Coverdell and Lynn Semingson (Sonja).

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey, her grandson, Joel and brother-in-laws, Earl Hetland and Richard Coverdell.

A memorial service for Yvonne will be held on August 12, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church, 198 Fern Ridge RD SE, Stayton, OR.

Yvonne will be laid to rest in Lone Oak Cemetery, Stayton, OR.
