Walter Racine, 85, Velva, formerly of Manitoba, Canada, passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at a Minot hospital.
Walter was born on March 15, 1938, in Deloraine, Manitoba, Canada, to Louis and Alice (Goodon) Racine. He went to school and was raised outside of Deloraine on a farm with his siblings. Walter spent many years in the tree service industry with his brothers. He retired in 2018.
Walter was once married to Mary Ann Vogt. The couple had four children. On October 9, 1987, Walter married Joette Sullivan in Minot. This union produced a daughter; Whitney. Walter also helped raise Joette’s son from a previous relationship as his own.
Walter was a jokester who loved making people laugh. He was very much a people person and was well loved by all who knew him.
Walter lived to fish. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, playing pool and cards with his friends.
Walter is survived by his wife, Joette; children, Marlene (Peter Nugent), Lyle (Crystal Mostowy), Richie, Amy (Bob) Bailey, and Whitney; stepson, Travis Harris, sister, Judy Black; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Wolfred, Raymond, Mabel, Manfred, Ed, Lloyd, Alvin, Allen, and Ella.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel.
