Ronald Klusmann, 82, Lake of the Ozark, Missouri and formerly of Minot, ND and New Salem, ND died on May 23, 2023, in an Osage Beach, Missouri care center.
Ronald Dale Klusmann was born on September 13, 1940, in New Salem, ND to Theodore and Stella (Tellmann) Klusmann. He was raised and educated in New Salem and graduated from New Salem High School in 1959. Ron entered the U.S. Army on January 9, 1962, and served as a member of the Headquarters Battery in the 5th Battalion of the 4th Artillery Corps in the 5th Infantry at Fort Carson, Colorado. He received his honorable discharge on December 7, 1963, and was transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve and returned to North Dakota.
Ron married Sharon Vander Vorste on October 1, 1965, at First United Methodist Church in Bismarck, ND. Ron began his career with Montana Dakota Utilities in 1967 in Williston and continued as an accountant and division manager in Bismarck prior to transferring to Minot in 1980. He retired from MDU in 2003 and continued to reside in Minot until they moved to Lake Ozark, MO in 2016.
Ron was a former member of Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot and the Minot Lions Club and was a volunteer with the United Way in Minot. He especially enjoyed traveling, building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, reading, gardening and was an avid follower of the stock market.
Ron’s loving family includes his wife of 57 years: Sharon; daughter: Jennifer (Tony) Reahr of Lake of the Ozark, MO; grandchildren: Mandee (Jacob) Allen and Andrew Reahr; great grandchildren: Ellie and Rhett Allen; nieces, nephew, and several cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Kenneth (Helen) Klusmann and niece: Tracy Klusmann.
A Celebration of Life was held on June 3, 2023, at Hedges Scott Funeral Home, Osage Beach, MO.
Memorial Graveside Service: June 16, 2023, at 12 p.m. in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, ND.
Celebration of Life: June 17, 2023, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Hampton Inn, Minot, ND
