Doreen Marie Knutson

Aug. 16, 1960-May 26, 2023

Minot

Doreen Marie Knutson, 62, Minot formerly of Sawyer, died Friday, May 26, 2023, in her home.

Doreen was born August 16, 1960, in Milwaukee, WI to Don Goral and Wanda Yurchich. Wanda later married Bill Gulbranson who would end up being Doreen’s Dad. She was educated in Wisconsin, California and Center, during her youth. She graduated from Meyer Vo. Tech in Minot with a degree in working with the mentally disabled.

Doreen was once united in marriage to Leroy Kuntz. They were blessed with two daughters and made their home in Bismarck before moving to Minot.

Doreen was employed in home health care for many years, worked with the mentally disabled, bartended and priorly dabbled in the fields of concrete and mechanics, fields she was proud to have tried! Although she had many different endeavors, her favorite job of all was being a mom.

Doreen married Brad Knutson in 1994. They lived in Minot and then settled in Sawyer. Their family grew to five with two sons and a daughter added to the family. Family was her life and she felt so blessed to be a mom and later a grandmother. Doreen was so proud of all of her children.

She will be remembered for her genuine kindness, loving heart, optimism, and sense of humor. She may not have had a lot, but she would give you the last she had of something even if it meant she would go without.

Camping and fishing were on the list of summer activities at Mouse River Park. Painting and crafting also filled the time left after tending to her many plants was finished. We will cherish the time we had with Doreen and all of the memories made.

Doreen is survived by her children Crystal Kuntz Marmon, Bismarck, Sarah (Aaron) Hansen, DeLain Knutson, Victor Knutson and Michael Knutson, all of Minot; grandchildren Anna Marie, Jasmine, Brooklyn and Brielle; spouse, Brad Knutson, Minot; siblings Susan Sandor, Mary Ann Zinos, Kathleen Shinner, Frank Yurchich, Nancy Head, and Judy Horne. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Doreen was preceded in death by her parents Wanda and Bill Gulbranson and sister Patty Yurchich.
