Allan Tohm, 76, Minot, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2023, at a Minot hospital.

Allan Edward Tohm was born May 29, 1947, to Carl and Jean (Fraser) Tohm in Bottineau, ND. He was raised on the family farm near Gardena, ND. He attended 1st through 8th grade at Gardena Public School then graduated from Bottineau High School.

He was drafted into the United Stated Army in 1967. He served during Vietnam and was discharged in 1968. After serving in the Army he returned to take over the family farm in Gardena. He was employed with the SOO Line Railroad for a number of years. He also owned Shirley’s Bar in Kramer for a time. He then traveled working construction.

In 1992, he moved back to North Dakota residing in Westhope, later moving to Minot, and drove truck until his retirement in 2014.

Allan enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, and working with his horses. He played music for local dances and functions. In his later years he enjoyed cooking, eating, and sharing his culinary experiences with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Kramer Gun Club, Bottineau VFW, and Zion Lutheran Church in Gardena.

Allan is survived by his brother, Rick (Rochelle) Tohm, Tolley, ND; sisters, Sue Tohm, Bismarck, ND, Peggy (Wayne) Lentz, Minot, ND, Linda (Don) Tucker, Ava MO, Bonnie (Bert) Olton, Palmyra, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Jean Tohm; sisters, Dorothy Houmann and Sheri Kraus.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot.

Burial: Zion Cemetery, Gardena, ND.

Visitation: Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Gardena Cemetery.
