Michael Burt, 73, Minot, died peacefully in his home on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Michael was born on March 6, 1950 in Kansas City, KS to Allan and Frances (Hunt) Burt. He graduated from Bishop Hartley High School in Columbus, OH in June 1968. Michael attended Arizona State University and graduated with a BA in secondary education January 1973. On May 12, 1973, Michael was united in marriage to Donna Faye Burk in Tempe, Arizona.

Less than a week later, on May 18, he was commissioned into the United States Air Force. Michael would serve our nation for over 28 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He amassed 5,923.1 hours in the B-52 as a Radar/Navigator and mentored entire generations of future aviators. Michael served at various locations in the Pacific, Southwest Asia, and as an Air Liason Officer attached to the Army on the Korean Peninsula. He also helped establish the USAF JROTC program in fall of 2002-2003 school year and officially went into retirement 2011.

In 2013, his wife Donna was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and he cared for her until her passing in 2018.

Michael loved spending summers with his grandkids and vacationing with family. He also enjoyed dog-sitting his grand-dogs, Evie Faye and Daisy Mae.

Michael is survived by his children, Mary (Terry) Hanson, Blaine, Minnesota, and Kathryn (Jason) Conley, Minot, and David (Kristin) Burt, Miramar Beach, Florida; grandchildren; Maximilian, Ozzie, and Betty Hanson, and Milo and Ellie Burt; siblings, Sara Buckey, Molly (Chris) Maher, Katie Flores, and Patrick (Kitty) Burt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Burt; parents, Allan and Frances Burt; and a brother, Peter Burt.
