Lucille Jeanette Fiest, 90, Minot, formerly of the Sherwood area, died Thursday, April 20, 2023, at her home under the care of hospice.
Lucille was born September 22, 1932, in Prosperity Township of Renville County, North Dakota, the daughter of Clate and Mary (Sarvis) Lindemood. She was raised and educated in Renville County and graduated from Sherwood High School in 1950.
Lucille spent a year in Spokane, Washington to work as a cook at a nursing home. She returned to North Dakota to help her family on the farm until she was joined in marriage to Floyd Guffey on November 22, 1952, in Spokane. They lived in Spokane for a short time and returned to the family farmstead in Prosperity Township.
They moved to Minot in 1956, where along with raising their three children, she was employed in various capacities before becoming a seamstress/upholsterer since 1964. Floyd died on March 24, 1975.
Lucille married Frank Fiest on July 6, 1976. Together, they owned and operated Fiest Upholstery. Frank died in 1979.
Lucille was a longtime member of Minot’s First Lutheran Church, where she was active with church circle group #6 and the quilting group. She also valued relationships shared with the Women of the Moose Lodge and Minot American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, especially her flowers and traveling.
Lucille’s family will be forever thankful for the thoughtfulness and loving care provided to Lucille by the staff of caring edge hospice. She always loved Jamie’s hugs and the comfort they provided to all of us.
Her loving family includes, children, Clayton (Bonnie) Guffey and LuAnn (Garold) Hamilton, both of Minot and Brenetta Lee, Blaisdell; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister, Lorna Lindemood along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husband’s, great grandson, Dylan Guffey; siblings, Kenneth, Edith and Thomas and son-in-law, Randy Lee.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Minot.
