James Joseph Solem, the son of Harold and Rosemary (Schneibel) Solem was born on March 30, 1952, in Rugby, North Dakota. He died at the age of 71 years on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at SMP Health in Valley City, North Dakota.

Jim was raised in Rugby and had a 40-year career in carpet installation.

Jim is survived by his partner for over 30 years, Terri Lemar of Rugby; children, Jason Solem, Jeff Solem (Tonya), Janelle Solem and Michelle Lemar, all of Rugby; nine grandchildren; siblings, Judy (Reynold) Ebach of Colorado, Doug (Kaye) of Dilworth, David (Nancy) of Bismarck, Shirley (Richard) Schaan of Jamestown, Ron of Rugby, Deb (Dave) Hanson of Willow City, Steve of Rugby and Jodi (Wayne) Miiller of Rugby.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby with burial in the Little Flower Catholic Cemetery in Rugby.
