Diana Preston, 49, Sawyer, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at a Minot hospital.

Diana was born on February 17, 1974, in Belcourt, ND to William and Mary Ann (Amyotte) Allery. When Diana was young, her mother married Hugh “Stan” Preston who adopted Diana and helped raise her as his own. She graduated from Sawyer High School in 1993 and soon after moved to Minot. In 1995, Diana met Kirk Norlin and the couple began dating on July 4 and have been together ever since.

Diana worked at many local businesses, including Sammy’s Pizza, Walmart, Miracle Mart, Target, and Taco John’s, before finding her calling watching children in a daycare setting.

In her younger days, she enjoyed horse-riding. Diana was also in honor band for music, where she played flute, and sang in the school choir. Diana enjoyed making ceramics and loved cats and dogs.

Diana was known for her laugh and her ability to keep things fun and lighthearted. Babies loved her and she had a skill for quieting even the fussiest babies. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Diana is survived by her life partner, Kirk Norlin, Minot; brother, Michael (Debra) Morin, Minot; sisters, Judy Ames, Minot, Cynthia Quechuleno, Minnesota, Sandra Dzandzo-Abrokwa, Ohio, Darcey Preston, Minot, Pauline (Darrin) Boucher, Rollette, ND, Anne (Edward) Wallette, Belcourt, and Blanche Allery, St. John, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Allery and Mary Ann Preston; adopted father, Hugh “Stan” Preston; brothers, Duane and David Allery; and numerous other extended family.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sawyer. Burial will follow at the Willis Township Cemetery in rural Sawyer. The service will be recorded for the public to view and can be accessed by going to Thompson-Larson Funeral Home’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@thompson-larsonfuneralhome3198. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 31 from 5-7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Minot.
