Sandra Howell, 80, of Plaza, died Monday, April 3, 2023, in a Minot hospital. Sandra Kay Elizabeth Howell was born on December 31, 1942, in Kenmare to Harry and Alice (Wahlund) Olson. She attended grade school in Coteau and graduated from Stanley High School in 1960. On July 24, 1960, Sandy was united in marriage to Walter Howell. They lived in Stanley, Dickey, Minot, and Carpio, until settling in Plaza in 1967 where they raised their children Robyn, Scott, and Karla. Sandy continued to live her best life independently in Plaza until her passing.

In 1970, Sandy started her career at Plaza Public School. Sandy loved working at the school and cherished seeing the students and staff every day. She was a dedicated employee until her retirement in May of 2021 after 51 years. Sandy loved spending time at the family cabin in Van Hook with her kids and grandkids as they grew up. Many wonderful memories were made there. In retirement, she looked forward to trips to the casino and happy hour with her friends. Sandy was known for giving the best hugs and always had a good word to say about everyone. She was a member of Plaza First Lutheran Church.

Sandy is survived by her son, Scott Howell (Bernadean) of Makoti; daughter, Karla Lobsinger (John) of Bismarck; son-in-law, Darcy Lynne (Vivian) of Plaza, grandchildren, Tanner Lynne (Lindsay), Tyson Lynne (Tracy), Madison Volk (Alex), Jaden Lobsinger, Trina Karna (Caleb) and Trisha Howell; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Maverick Lynne; brother, Rand Olson (Diane) and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Robyn Lynne; and husband Walter, who died on May 5, 2013.

Funeral: Monday, April 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in First Lutheran Church, Plaza.

There will be no reviewal, but friends may sign a memorial register on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to service time in the church.

Interment: East Plaza Cemetery, Plaza.
