Myron Brandt, 75, Upham, ND, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, in his home.
Myron Sam Brandt was born on May 26, 1947, in Bottineau, ND, a son of Edwin and Edna (Mickelson) Brandt. He was raised in the Upham area, where he was baptized and confirmed at Bloomfield Lutheran Church. He attended Upham public school, where he drove his famous car “the turtle” and was voted “best good looking male.” He graduated from Upham High School in 1965. Myron furthered his education by attending North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.
On May 16, 1968, Myron was drafted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on February 27, 1970. Upon discharge from the Army, he returned to Upham to farm and ranch with his father. Due to his dad’s death four months later, he started the life-long occupation of farming and ranching on his own. He and his family soon moved out into the country to live on the Brandt family farm. Following the birth of his own son he had a “new” dream of farming and ranching with HIS son. In his later years he also started a manure hauling business. He was a hard worker and dedicated to the farming and ranching industry – anywhere from milking cows to raising turkeys, pigs, lambs and chickens to raising wheat. He was a jack of all trades.
Myron was united in marriage to Mary Sather (Long) in March 1969. They were blessed with three children, Markaye, Marisa, and Matthew. The couple later divorced. Myron then married Eldora Hagen the couple later divorced.
Myron is survived by: daughter Marisa Folstad; sisters Marlene Holen, Bette (Mark) Porter, Sharon Pettingill; grandchildren: MJ (Katrina), Kayla, Katie and Madison; Brittney, Raylea and Emmett; 11 great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
