Joan Fransten
June 26, 1941-April 16, 2023
Minot
Joan Adaire Frantsen, 81, of Minot, North Dakota, died in her sleep early on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Trinity Homes.
Joan was born on June 26, 1941, in Minot, the daughter of Melvin and Esther (Schmidt) Frantsen.
Joan’s early years were spent in Voltaire, ND, when her father owned the General Store. The family also lived in Bellingham and Parkland, WA, and in White Bear Lake, MN. They then lived in Rudyard and Savage, MT, and in Parshall, ND, where her father pastored Lutheran parishes. The family also spent many fun days at their cabin on Strawberry Lake, ND. Joan moved with her parents to Lake Elsinore, CA, where her father died in 1980. Joan and her mother moved to Rialto, CA, and then Minot, ND, where Esther passed away in 1995. Since then, Joan had been a resident at Trinity Homes in the independent unit until the end of 2022 when she moved to the skilled care unit.
Joan was a Christian and was discipled by her father. She agreed wholeheartedly with the words of the old hymns. Joan enjoyed her loving staff friends at Trinity Homes and visits from her family. She loved animals (live and stuffed) and was an expert on all the happenings at the zoo. She was good at keeping up on all the baby news amongst the relatives. And Joan relished occasional steak dinners out and attending animated movies complete with a diet coke and a big tub of popcorn.
Her loving family includes sister-in-law Emilie Frantsen, Savage, MN, Niece Kristin (Greg) Gee, Savage, MN, Nephew Paul (Julie) Frantsen, Waverly, IA. Also, grandnephews Derek (Kayla), Nathan (Hannah), Peter (Rachel) Gee, Grandnieces Rachel, Bethany, Sarah, Katherine Frantsen, and Great Grandnephew Titus Gee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kearney (1937-2005) and Robert (1957-1975).
