Ansell Morris Johnson, 92, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, February 25, 2023 surrounded by his family after a short stay at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Ansell was born September 4, 1930, the fourth of five children to Alrik and Minnie (Lunde) Johnson on the farm near Nanson, North Dakota. Ansell grew up attending school in Wolford, Wolford Lutheran Church and working alongside his father on the family farm. He graduated in the class of 1948 at Wolford High School.

Ansell was an active member of the Lutheran Loyal League where he met the love of his life, Janice Luann Ostrem and they were united in marriage on September 10, 1961.

Ansell was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws; brother, Everett Johnson; sisters, Elvera Baker, Anita Gunderson, and Hazel Juntunen. He is survived by his wife of 61.5 years Janice; daughter, Lori (Ron) Graber of Wolford; sons, Craig (Rachel) Johnson of Wolford and Bruce (Arin) Johnson of West Fargo; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; Janice’s brother Harold Jr (Marlys) Ostrem.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 6th at Wolford Lutheran Church in Wolford with burial in the spring in the Wolford Cemetery. Pastor Sharon Baker, officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service and sharing of memories beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby. Visitation will continue on Monday for one hour prior to the time of services at the church.
