Denise ‘DD’ Stoa, 52, Minot, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in her home.

Denise was born April 2, 1970, in Minot, ND to Darrell and Mary (Black) Helseth. She was molded in the community of Carpio, ND in the years of her youth and graduated with the Carpio High School Class of 1988. She continued her education at Minot State University with a focus on data processing.

Denise was united in marriage to Joel Stoa on August 3, 1990, in Foxholm, ND. They lived briefly in Grand Forks, ND but then returned to Minot where they made their home.

Denise spent her early years working in the retail and banking industries until finding her niche at Raymond James Financial. She worked as the office manager for 25 years until her retirement for health reasons.

Denise enjoyed time spent camping with her husband, a boat ride or getting lost in the story of a good book. Darts, Bowling and any board game she could play with family created many memories with family and friends. She will be remembered for being smart, unselfish, quick wit, stubborn but caring gentle soul and her ability to keep things beautifully simple.

Denise is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Joel, Minot; father Darrell Helseth, Minot; sisters Linda (Greg) Laumb, Berthold, and LeAnn (Keith) Kadrmas, Minot; brother David Helseth, Carpio; numerous nieces and nephews; aunts Donna Schimetz, Billings, MT, Jane (Gary) Nutz, Minot, ND and Donna Jayne, Shreveport, LA and many cousins.

Denise was preceded in death by her mother, an infant sister Susan Renae and sister and brother-in-law Debra and Bruce Johnson.

Celebration of Denise’s Life: 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 27, 2023, at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: First Lutheran Cemetery, Carpio, ND

Visitation: Sunday, February 26, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home.

Memorials are preferred to ALZ Association, ALS Association, American Cancer Society, Trinity Hospice or to an organization of the donor’s choice.
