Robert “Bob” Gorder, Sr.

Robert “Bob” Gorder, Sr. was born August 4, 1934, in Rugby, the only child of Gerhart and Bernice (Iverson) Gorder. He was raised in the Makoti, Plaza, and New Town areas. He started his senior year at Sanish but finished at New Town High School, graduating in 1953. He continued his education at Minot Business College in Minot.

Bob worked for Lakeside Insurance in New Town for many years and retired when he was in his 50s. He was once married to Deloris Erickson. In his later years, he lived at various senior and assisted living centers in New Town, Minot, and Garrison, before settling in at Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley.

Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren, visiting with friends, and playing gin rummy. He enjoyed traveling and experiencing places like Alaska, Mexico, and Arizona; he even went on a Mediterranean cruise. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the Kiwanis; and served on the New Town Nursing Home Board.

On Sunday, December 29, 2022, at the age of 88, Robert “Bob” Gorder, Sr. passed away at the nursing home in Stanley. Blessed be his memory among us.

Bob is survived by his children, Brenda Stubstad (Wayne), Dori Clark (Daryl Lyson), Robert Gorder Jr. (Jan), and Christen Gorder (John Veith); grandchildren, Justin and Garrett Stubstad; Calin Galla, Kelsey Urbanchek, and Emily Clark; Ty, Grace, and Tucker Gorder; great-grandchildren Scarlett, Hazel, Paul, Graham, Sloane, Taralynn, and Ember. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral: Thursday, January 5, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, New Town.

Visitation: Thursday, two hours prior to the start of the service at the church.

Interment: New Town Cemetery, New Town
