Richard Nielsen

Richard Nielsen passed away on December 26, 2022, at a Minot hospital.

He born on December 17, 1948 the son of Melvin and Inez (Rothmann)Nielsen.

Richard enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1972. He traveled to many countries while serving including places such as Vietnam, Italy, and Hong Kong. After returning from the Navy he was employed with the BNSF Railroad where he worked for over 30 years!

Richard was united in marriage to Bonnie Mahnke in 1970 and they have been together for 52 years! They were blessed with one son, Jason.

He was a very excellent carpenter and excelled at making different furniture pieces. He was very proud of his Lionel Train Tables.

Richard’s loving family includes, his wife of 52 years, Bonnie and son, Jason (Mary); sister-in-law, Marilyn; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary; grandparents; aunt; uncles; and cousins.

The family would like to thank the Cancer Center at Trinity for the care they provided Richard.
