Darlene Dickman, 82, Minot, ND, formerly of Surrey, ND, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Darlene Marie Hoppman was born to Ed and Agnes (Witham) Hoppman on May 6, 1940, in Surrey, ND. She was a twin to her sister, Arlene (Guthrie). Darlene was raised in the Surrey area. Darlene graduated from Surrey High School in 1958.

On July 1, 1959, she married John Dickman Sr., and from that marriage three daughters, Shelly, Sherry, and Missy and one son John, Jr. were born.

Darlene graduated from Josef’s School of Hair Design in 1988, and worked at various hair salons throughout the years.

John and Darlene lived in the Surrey area for 21 years. They then moved to Garrison by the lake and in the winters lived in Yuma, AZ.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot.

She enjoyed her spending time with her family, watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers, the World Series Little League and many other activities.

Darlene is survived by her daughters, Shelly (Scott) Parish, and Missy (Wayne Justice) Sitton; son, John Jr. (Sheryl Volk); grandchildren, Alyssa (Ryan) Staggs, Lindsay (Ryan) Sluder, Trisha (Justin) Braaten, Cole (Samm) Espe, Ian (Thera) Espe, Jagger Dickman, and Harli Dickman, great-grandchildren, Rieley, Paxton, Gaige, Brecken, Canden, Jamison, Maddox, RaeLynn, and Samuel; brother, Richard Hoppman; sister, Viola (Arlen) Ojala and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Darlene was preceded in death by Her husband, John Dickman Sr.; parents, Ed and Agnes Hoppman; in-laws, Stanley and Dorothy Dickman; daughter, Sherry Espe; great grandson Hayden Staggs and sisters, Elaine Bradwisch, Lillian Grabow and Arlene Guthrie.

Funeral: Saturday, January 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Interment: North Dakota Veteran Cemetery in Mandan, ND.

Memorials: are preferred to donor’s choice.
