Wilbur John Aiken,

born in Minot, ND,

MN, died on November

21, 2022. He was 86.

Wilbur was born in

1936, to Lyle and Anne

(Ford) Aiken, the second

of six children: Allen Lee,

who died in childbirth;

Wilbur John (1936 – 2022);

Beverly Ann (Radke)

(1938 – 2002); Eva Mae

(1947 – 1954); James Dal-

las (1953 – 2005); and,

Cherri Sue (Larson) (1955

-).

Wilbur grew up in and

around Minot, ND. His fa-

ther worked for the Great

Northern Railroad; his

mother was a homemaker.

In 1954, Wilbur graduated

Minot High School. He

served two years in the

U.S. Army from Aug. 3,

1954 to July 26, 1956.

In 1957, he married

Darleen Stokke of Crosby,

ND. They had three chil-

dren, Shawn Aiken (Lynn

Anderson (Phoenix, AZ),

Kristi Christman (St. Paul,

MN), and Kelly Moon

(Forest Lake, MN); three

grandchildren, Ellen, Eric,

and Andrew; two

great-grandchildren, Noah

and Ava Dhanani.

Wilbur graduated from

the University of North

Dakota (B.A., 1960 and

M.A., 1964). In 1969, he

was awarded a Ph.D. in

clinical psychology from

the University of Mis-

souri. That same year, the

family moved to Marshall,

MN, where Wilbur direct-

ed the Western Mental

Health Center, a

non-profit community

mental health clinic. Dar-

leen taught English at

nearby Cottonwood High

School and later worked

for Minnesota Corn Pro-

cessors. In 1987, Wilbur

and Darleen moved to

Plymouth, MN, where

they lived for the past 35

years. During their time

living in Plymouth, MN,

they attended Beautiful

Savior Lutheran Church

where Darleen played the

piano from time to time.

At the time of his death,

Wilbur and Darleen lived

at New Perspective Senior

Living in St. Paul, MN.

Friday, December 16,

2022, at Gearty-Delmore

Funeral Chapels, 3888 W.

Bdwy Ave. Robbinsdale,

MN 55422. Visitation 1/2

hour prior to the service

at the funeral home. Buri-

al at Roselawn Cemetery,

Roseville, MN, following

the service. In lieu of

flowers, the family asks

that you pick up the next

tab in honor of Wilbur.
