Steve Lodoen
July 10, 1945 – Dec. 26, 2022
Steve Lodoen, age 77, passed away December 26, 2022 in Minot, ND from complications while in the treatment of Hodgkins Lymphoma. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
He was born in Lakota, ND July 10, 1945 to Milo and Alice (Nermyr) Lodoen. Steve graduated from Bottineau High School in l963 and was awarded a B.S. degree in civil engineering from the University of North Dakota in 1968. While attending UND Steve participated on the track team and was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
Steve’s career choice took him to many locations, including Viet Nam from late 1968 until the spring of 1972.
In 1973 he married Bonnie Brandt and together they raised two sons, Stephen Beau Headsten and Jeffrey Marcus Lodoen. The family lived in many areas of the U.S., including Wyoming, Virginia, New Jersey and Texas. In the summer of 1981 Steve resigned from his eight year position with CE Lummus and moved from Texas to San Jose, CA. He worked with his brother Mike at L&D Construction Company Inc. Here, Steve worked as a project manager and superintendent, successfully managing the construction of many large apartment projects in the San Jose area. Steve retired from L&D in 2008. Steve and his wife Bonnie then spent their summers at beautiful Lake Metigoshe near their hometown of Bottineau, ND and their winters in San Jose, CA. Steve was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in San Jose.
Steve enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, both deep sea, lake fishing, scuba diving, and abalone diving with his brother and other friends in California and the Caribbean. Steve also enjoyed making great wine with two co-workers. The last several years Steve had a passion for UND Sioux Forever hockey. Steve’s daily activity was READING!
Steve is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Lodoen, his brother and closest friend Mike Lodoen and his wife, Sitney Lodoen, Cupertino, CA; his sister Mary Ringen, Minot, ND; nephew Michael Lodoen and his wife Agustina Lodoen, Portola Valley, CA, their children Julia Lodoen and Lucas Lodoen; niece Dr. Melissa Lodoen Bruckner and her husband Dr. Tim Alan Bruckner, Irvine, CA, and their children Arianne Elise Bruckner and Lillie Lucia Bruckner. Steve is also survived by his three sisters-in-law and their husbands: Diane and Jay Kersten, Minot, ND, Colleen and Bob Kornkven, Oro Valley, AZ and Susan and Richard Geiger, Grafton, ND, and also several nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Milo and Alice (Nermyr) Lodoen, son Jeffrey Marcus Lodoen, stepson Stephen Beau Headsten, mother-in-law Adele Brandt Douglas, and father-in-law Dr. Roy Douglas.
The service will be live-streamed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Bottineau, ND
