Kim Ballantyne
April 22, 1955 – Dec. 11, 2022
Kim Alan Ballantyne (“KAB” to his family and friends), loving husband, father and grandfather was born on April 22, 1955 in Minot, North Dakota and went to be with Our Lord and Savior on December 11, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas.
KAB attended Indio High School in Indio, California and Minot High School in Minot, North Dakota, graduating from the latter in 1975. He attended College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California, and the University of Texas at Austin. At UT he was a member of the Alpha Tao Omega fraternity and earned his B.S. in Business.
After UT, he moved to San Antonio to work with his family in the oil and gas business. He was introduced to his wife, Mary Kennedy, when he escorted her to the 1984 Opening German. They married in 1985 and raised their four children in Terrell Hills, Texas. He was a member of the San Antonio German Club, the Order of the Alamo, and the Texas Cavaliers.
Above all, and without compromise, KAB loved and honored his family. His wife, children and grandchildren were the true sources of joy in his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jean Spoklie Ballantyne and Melvin Walter “Pat” Ballantyne, and his brother, Todd Ballantyne. As well as his brother-in-law, Edward Hegeler.
KAB is survived by his loving wife Mary Kennedy Ballantyne; children, Elizabeth Ballantyne Smith and husband Graham, Mary Catherine Ballantyne, John Walter Ballantyne, and Kathleen Ballantyne Cler and husband Liam; grandchildren, Majure Ballantyne Smith and Thomas Alan Smith; sisters, Jane Ballantyne Hegeler and Sue Ballantyne; brother, Steve Ballantyne and wife Anne, along with numerous other loving family members and friends.
The Holy Rosary was held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 5:00 PM at St. Peter Prince of The Apostles Catholic Church. Mass of The Resurrection was held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at St. Peter Prince of The Apostles Catholic Church.
