FLORENCE QUANDT

May 30, 1927 – Dec. 27, 2022

Florence Quandt, 95, Minot, formerly of Makoti, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in a Minot Assisted Living Facility.

Florence was born May 30, 1927 on the family farm near Plaza, the youngest of nine children to Charles and Ellen (Hehmke) Dyke. She was raised on the family farm and attended school at Plaza High School, graduating there in 1946. She continued to assist with the operation of the family farm until she was united in marriage to Leroy Quandt on November 23, 1958 at Spring Valley Lutheran Church in Plaza.

Florence and Leroy would make their home on the family farmstead south of Makoti, where along with raising their four children they would farm and ranch for over 50 years. They continued to make their home near Makoti until moving to Edgewood Vista in Minot in 2018. Leroy died January 17, 2019.

Florence was a longtime member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Makoti where she was active with the women of the church lady’s aide group. Her hobbies and interests included, gardening, baking, cooking and sewing. She also loved to do puzzles and tell stories about the old days.

Her loving family includes, children, Jane Quandt, Athens, GA, Lane (Evelyn Keller) Belgrade, MT, Shelley Quandt (Kim Brummond) Dickinson, ND and Darwin (Heather) Quandt, Makoti; grandchildren, Kandice (Quinn) Hurtvenko, Kurtis Quandt, Ashleigh Lilly and Kathryn McNichol (Jeremy Reynolds); great grandchildren, Kylie and Burklee; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 60 years, Leroy and her 8 siblings, Delma, Delbert, Mahlon, Marvin, Corine, Arthur, William and Dallas.

Funeral service: Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot. Those wishing to view a delayed streaming of the service can go to Florence’s obituary page on the funeral home website.

Interment: St Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Makoti

Visitation: Wednesday, January 4, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers or plants the family prefers memorials to St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Makoti, Camp of the Cross of Garrison or an organization of the donor’s choice.
