Richard Arlen Haman

March 11, 1935 – Sept. 3, 2022

Richard (Dick) Haman

was born in Fargo, ND to

Elizabeth Haman. He was

raised on a farm near

Towner, ND by Peter and

Magdalena Haman along

with 12 siblings.

He attended grade

school at Berwick country

school. When in Jr. High,

he started school in

Towner and graduated in

1952. He joined the US

Air Force in Minot, ND in

1954. After his discharge

in 1958 he worked for the

Minot Police Force. He

then enrolled in the

Electrical Program at the

North Dakota State School

of Science. He graduated

in 1961 and attained his

Journeyman’s and Master

Electrician licenses.

During that time, he

met his wife of 61 years,

Virginia (Ginger) Leinen

from Fairmount, ND.

They were married at St.

John’s Catholic Church in

Wahpeton, ND on October

15, 1960. Their daughter

Judith (Judy) Lynn Haman

was born in 1961.

They moved to Minot in

1966. Richard worked at

Minot Air Force Base as a

civil service electrician

until he became an electr-

ical inspector for the ND

Electrical Board. In 1984

he became the Director of

Inspectors for the ND

Electrical Board in

Bismarck, ND. They

moved to along the Mis-

souri River near Wilton,

ND. He retired from the

Electrical Board in 1996

and opened his own com-

pany, Painted Woods

Electric. He was active in

the Wilton American Le-

gion and Sacred Heart

Catholic Church.

In 2019 Richard and

Ginger moved back to

Minot to be closer to their

daughter. They enjoyed

doing what they loved,

but on a smaller scale, re-

quiring less work, so they

could slow down a bit. In

May their failing health

made it necessary to move

into Edgewood Assisted

until the time of his

death.
