Janee Peterson
Oct. 15, 1937-Sept. 1, 2022
Janee Peterson, 84,
Minot and formerly of
Sherwood died on Thurs-
day, September 1, 2022 in
a Minot healthcare center
surrounded by loving family.
Margaret Janee Peterson
was born on October 15,
1937 in Tacoma, Wash-
ington to Earl and Svea
(Nelson) Williams. She
was raised and educated
in Tacoma until 1952
when she moved to Sher-
wood to live with her
Grandma Margaret Nel-
son. She graduated as
Valedictorian from the
Sherwood High School
Class of 1955.
Janee was once married
to Gary DesLauriers and
they are the parents of
Blaine, David, Cathy,
MaryLynn and Todd.
They made their home on
the family farm near Sher-
wood.
Janee excelled at farm
family life. She cooked,
cleaned, gardened,
canned fruits and veget-
ables, and mowed lawn.
She was an expert seam-
stress, a master baker – even
making wedding cakes. She was the neighborhood barber and
hair stylist. She worked
hard in the fields, side by
side with the guys, and
could outwork any hired man.
Janee was very active in
community, school and
church activities. She
served on the Sherwood
School Board for several
years. She drove a school
bus route and also en-
joyed driving students to
numerous extracurricular
activities. She loved to at-
tend all of her children’s
and the community’s ath-
letic, music and other
school events. She was a
loyal SHS Wildcat!
She loved spending
time with the family’s
many friends and wonder-
ful neighbors. When there
was down time on the
farm or after church on
Sundays, it was common
to have several neighbors
stop by for brunch after
church, cards, cribbage, or
Yahtzee games. There was
always a pot of coffee on
the stove and several
homemade goodies to enjoy.
Lake Metigoshe was her
true happy place. She
loved the water, especial-
ly water skiing (she was
still skiing at 60+ years of
age). She taught
numerous friends, neigh-
bors and family’s children
to water ski. She acquired
many lifelong friends at
the lake and enjoyed
spending time there im-
mensely. According to
Janee, the sun always
shined on Lake Metigoshe
and if it wasn’t, it was
only five minutes away!
Janee married Harry
Peterson in May 1996 and
they made their home in
Apache Junction, Arizona
and Lake Metigoshe. After
Harry’s death, Janee
moved to Minot in March
of 2018 where she resided
at ProHealth.
Janee is survived by her

when they visited. Janee
is survived also by several
