Harold Eberle

Nov. 30, 1929-Sept. 13, 2022

Harold James Eberle,

92, passed away peaceful-

ly September 13, 2022, in

Bellevue, WA.

Harold was born No-

vember 30, 1929 to Jack

and Mary (Lesmeister)

Eberle in Esmond, ND. In

1951, he joined the Army

National Guard serving

two years as sergeant in

the role of tank and vehi-

cle fleet manager. On De-

cember 28, 1953, he mar-

ried Darlene Ardis Ingebo.

They soon departed ND

for a short residency in

California before moving

to Washington State. They

made their home in

Snohomish with

daughters Darla Jean and

Melanie Ann. They later

moved to Sequim, WA

and then to Port Angeles,

WA. In 2008, they moved

to Yuma, AZ to enjoy the

year-round desert sun.

After losing his beloved

wife Darlene of 61 years

in 2015, Harold moved to

Bellevue, WA to be closer

to family.

In addition to being an

expert auto mechanic,

Harold pursued several

small business ventures

including a gas

station/auto repair shop, a

machine shop, carpet

cleaning business and a

laundromat. He could fix

anything and was the

go-to guy for help. When

grateful family and

friends would ask “How

did you do that?”, he

would smile and reply

“It’s magic!”.

A lifelong accordion

player and entertainer, he

recorded several polka

and dance records.

Harold’s desire was for

everyone to have fun and

be happy. Whether he

was on top of an army

tank entertaining buddies,

enjoying the warm tropi-

cal breeze in Maui at

Christmastime playing

carols to kids, marching

with the Sauerkraut Band

in the Snohomish Kla Ha

Ya Days parade or per-

forming at various dance

clubs, laughter and enjoy-

ment were his goals. His

love of music and fun was

evident every time he

picked up his accordion

and flashed his signature

smile.

An avid fisherman,

Harold enjoyed the thrill

of catching salmon and

halibut. Freshly caught

shrimp, crab and clams

along with fresh veget-

ables from the garden

were staples on the back-

yard BBQ menu. A roar-

ing campfire, lively accor-

dion music, a good game

of horseshoes and fun and

laughter with family and

friends were standard fare

at the Eberle’s.

Harold leaves behind

daughter Melanie and fi-

ance Jack Phillips of Bel-

levue, WA; brother LeRoy

and wife Connie of Minot,

ND; sister Alice and hus-

band Adolph Lorz of

Minot, ND; brother-in-law

Myron Ingebo and wife

Ann of Spokane, WA;

sister-in-law Vivien Moya

and husband Herman of

Marysville, WA;

numerous nieces and

nephews.

Harold was preceded in

death by wife Darlene in

2015, daughter Darla in

2016 and sisters Bernice

Schindler, Elenor Finger,

Helen Brunner and Irene

Voeller.

At Harold’s request,

there will be no service.

Instead, there will be a

celebration of life for fam-

ily and friends at a later

date. He was a sweet, kind

and generous soul who

was everyone’s friend. His

memory and happy smile

will live on in the hearts

of all those who knew and

loved him.
