Duane Sinclair

Duane Sinclair, 87,
Minot, formerly of Lans-
ford, ND, passed away on
Wednesday, August 31,
2022, with his family at
his side.
James “Duane” Sinclair
was born on November
27, 1934, a son of James
and Mary (Kalla) Sinclair
on the family farm in
Muskego Township, Lans-
ford, ND. He was raised
on the family farm, and
attended school at
Muskego Township
School #1.
On August 23, 1957,
Duane enlisted into the
United States Army Na-
tional Guard. He proudly
served his country until
honorable discharge on
February 22, 1958. Fol-
lowing his discharge,
Duane worked at Westlie
Motor Company in the
parts department, before
returning to the farm.
Duane was united in
marriage to Lucille Wein-
mann on June 22, 1963 at
St. Leo the Great Roman
Catholic Church in Minot.
They made their home on
the Sinclair farm, where
they raised their three
children Jo Ann, Lyle and
Brenda. Duane was active
on the farm, and during
the winter months served
as a civilian mechanic at
the Minot Air Force Base.
In the fall of 1992, Duane
and Lucy moved to Minot.
For several years,
Duane cared for his wife,
following a motor vehicle
accident in 1986. He
worked tirelessly as an
advocate to prevent this
type of accident from af-
fecting other families.
Lucy passed away on May
31, 2012. Following her
death, he continued to
live in Minot.
He enjoyed the out-
doors hunting, fishing,
farming and the occasion-
al trip to the casino. His
family was very important
to him and he was very
proud of his children and
grandchildren. Duane was
a loving father, grandfa-
ther and friend and will
be deeply missed.
He is survived by:
Children: JoAnn Blake,
Lyle (Shirley) Sinclair and
Brenda Sinclair; three
grandchildren: Tyler J.
Anderson, Ashlyn Sin-
clair and Alexis Blake;
numerous nieces,
nephews and cousin also
survive.
He was preceded in
death by his parents, wife
Lucille, brother Jerome,
and an infant sister Derlis
Sinclair.
