Ryne Allen Darvis

Ryne was born on Sep-
tember 8, 1985, in Minot,
ND to Rick and Laura
(Klein) Darvis. The Vik-
ings beat the 49ers on this
date in 1985 and he was
named after Ryne Sand-
berg, the 2nd baseman for
the Cubs. Ryne loved all
sports and enjoyed know-
ing all the stats. He was
an avid Raiders, Dodgers,
and Celtics fan. Ryne al-
ways had a glint in his
eye when talking about
sports.
Ryne grew up in Plenty-
wood, graduating from
Plentywood High School
in 2004. He was a gifted
writer, very artistic and
loved to read. Ryne was a
talented athlete, partici-
pating in track and basket-
ball. He was seldom seen
without a basketball; it
was very much a part of
who he was. Ryne attend-
ed college for a short time
at the University of North
Dakota in Grand Forks.
Ryne is survived by his
parents, Rick and Laura;
step-mother Valerie; si-
blings Rett, Devyn (Col-
ton), Ricky, Michelle, and
Grayson; niece Jentry,
nephew Trigyr; grandfa-
ther Allen Klein;
numerous aunts and un-
cles; and a passel of
cousins.
Ryne is preceded in
death by grandparents
Gerald and Edith
(Spaabeck) Darvis and
Elaine (Krim) Klein; and
uncle Frank Darvis.
A memorial service will
be held on Friday, Sep-
tember 2, 2022 at 11:00
A.M. MST at the Sheridan
County Civic Center in
Plentywood. Please join
us for lunch following the
service. Memorial dona-
tions can be made in
Ryne’s name to the Plen-
tywood Lion’s Club for
their basketball court.
