Mark Loraas

Mark A. Loraas, 57, Iron
Mountain, MI, formerly of
Velva, passed away Satur-
day, August 6, 2022, at a
Minot hospital.
Mark Alan Loraas was
born June 5, 1965, the son
of James and Winefred
(Bohner) Loraas, in Minot.
Mark was raised and edu-
cated in Velva, Graduat-
ing from Velva High
School in 1984.
Mark enlisted in the
United States Army
Reserves immediately
after high school gradua-
tion and served three
years. He then enlisted
full time in the United
States Army in 1987. He
served in various loca-
tions including Germany
and Egypt for one tour. He
was honorably discharged
in 1995.
After his discharge
Mark lived in Colorado
Springs, CO, and Dallas,
TX working for various
auto glass companies. He
worked for Safelite Auto
Glass for ten years before
deciding to return to his
child roots of farming,
working for the Aaseth
family farms.
He enjoyed hunting,
working at the farm, and
spending time at his
friend’s hunting camp in
Michigan.
His loving family in-
cludes:
brother, Jeff Loraas; sis-
ter, Mary Loraas; nephew,
Chad Loraas; and many
aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mark was preceded in
death by his parents, sis-
ter Cathy and nephew Ja-
son.
Celebration of Life Ser-
vice: Friday, August 12,
2022, at 10:30 a.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home Chapel, Minot.
Visitation: One hour be-
fore the service.
A Celebration of Life
will also be held at the
Lariat in Velva on Friday
starting at 1:00 p.m.
